Mr & Mrs Dawson tie the knot in Townsville

Updated: May 23, 2021

Gemma & Edward first reached out to me many months ago to talk about the dream wedding they were both planning and from the get go I wanted to jump in head first! The day was perfect, a typical Townsville day in April, with not a cloud in the sky and the temperature just right. Gemma and the Ladies where getting the full works treatment at Urban Miss Beauty Bar and out at Alligator creek I watched on as Edward and his groomsman and family where just relaxing on the Dawson's beautiful home. I could see why Edward wanted to get ready out there, not only is Edwards fathers property a slice of paradise it's home to Edward. Many memories have been made there through Edwards life so why not add this beautiful milestone to the collection. After the boys were all dressed we took them out behind the house for some portraits. Once that was done, Edward found a quiet place to read his letter that Gemma had written out for him. A sly grin and a little chuckle escaped Edward and just like that we took off into town to the Mercure to meet Gemma and the girls. While we were photographing the details the girls just got back and after a bit of a breather it was time to get into the dress. This gown was particularly stunning, Gemma had got it from Luv Bridal and she looked absolutely beautiful. After a few portraits and some laughs Gemma decided to have a first look with her dad. He looked like a ball of emotions seeing his daughter dressed up for the first time and the moment did not disappoint. From here we made our way to St James Cathedral a beautiful heritage listed church that has stunning views of the strand and Magnetic Island. This Heritage listed Church was the stunning backdrop for Gemma and Edward to pronounce their love for each other in front of all their friends and family and with the group photo and family photo's done I took these two back into the empty quiet church for a few portraits.

We then packed up and made our way to Queens gardens. It's a very popular spot in Townsville, especially the massive rain tree. We like to find different ways of making every couple's experience there unique and I think we nailed it.

The next part of the journey was a very special moment for the couple. We got to see Edward's grandmother in the nursing home. She wasn't able to join them in person on the big day but the look on her face when she saw these two all dressed up said it all. Proud as punch.

We ended the location photos over at the kissing point boardwalk and a beautiful sunset was awaiting the couple before heading back to the party. Now when i say party... I mean party. These guys knew how to carve up a dance floor with some great moves, I truly was in my element so much i actually stayed a little longer than I should have because it was nuts! We had people doing the worm and every other dance move you can think of!

Edward & Gemma what can i tell you... I have fun at every wedding, I honestly do but I had such a blast and it was such an honour to capture your big day. Thank you so much for choosing us to capture your love story.
